Sephora Beautifies Our Digital World With Its Immersive iPad App

Submitted by on 07/31/2011 – 2:08 PMNo Comment | 2,819 views

It’s official. Perhaps the  most glorious beauty app to date has been created for our digital delight on our iPads. And it’s been created by none other than one of our favorite beauty stores – Sephora.

Sephora Beauty iPad App

Launched less than two weeks ago, the Sephora app includes up-to-the-minute beauty news and information from Sephora’s Facebook and Twitter feeds, its BeautyTalk community, Beauty And The Blog website and Sephora’s newly revamped YouTube Channel, providing the latest beauty trends and advice.

iPad App Marketing Mobile Strategy

The sophisticated and information-rich layout updates each time the app is accessed and can be tailored to only show the content individual users want for a truly personal experience.

Once you’ve read the reviews, seen the videos and posted your own comments, Sephora’s App for iPad offers a seamless online shopping experience and a special-edition, iPad-only summer catalog that puts the hottest products and top seasonal trends at your fingertips.

“We’re extremely proud of Sephora’s App for iPad and consider it an immersive, educational and entertaining beauty retail experience,” said Bridget Dolan, Vice President of Interactive Media. “The limitless capabilities of iPad inspired us to rethink how we deliver content digitally to our clients, leading us to develop unique functionalities that will drive the entire category.”

Editor’s Notes: We are head over heals in love with this app. The beauty report is tres chic (part promotional, somewhat editorial) and we love how the social content is intermixed with Twitter, blog posts, community comments and Facebook.

We like digital apps that fuel wanderlust; this app lets the user meander in and out of all the different pieces of Sephora’s social world, and whether you want to interact or just watch, you’re definitely drawn in.  Shopping for products is seamless and lovely. We especially loved Summer In The City: How To Survive Humidity In the Concrete Jungle.

Our marketing hope: Currently loaded with summer necessities, we hope that the content is updated monthly instead of on a quarterly basis as may be the case with the Beauty Report.

Our product hope: Sephora carries a wide array of brands; as customers, we hope that the product selection will remain diverse, a little electric and well balanced as it is in this debut. While we know that co-op promo dollars are important, this app leaves a lot of room for editorial integration as well.

We want to see more from Korres, Cover FX, Ouidad (curl products should have been featured in the Summer in the City), Carol’s Daughter, Tarte and other lesser known lines that can be found in store. Also, as Sephora expands its selections to include more eco friendly – natural cosmetics, hair products – we want to find them called out in all their glory within this communication channel.

The Sephora App is available for free from the App Store on iPad.
