You Fancy, Huh?
We found ourselves on Fancy the other day. The site has a distinct microblog feel — kind of a Pinterist meets Lyst. TechCrunch calls Fancy “the super ambitious, low-profile but red hot startup you’ve never heard of.” Mashable said Fancy “connects users to things, people and brands on the web and in real life.” The New York Observer dubbed Fancy “the Facebook of stuff.” These are all accurate descriptions of the Fancy website.
In our quest to categorize the things we like on the World Wide Web along with those that we upload ourselves, sites like Fancy help us curate until our hearts are content.
Fancy is part store, blog, magazine and wishlist. It’s a place to discover great stuff, to curate a collection of things you love, to get updates on your favorite brands and stores and to share your discoveries.
Use it to create a catalog of your favorite things around the web and around the world.
When you find something you love somewhere on the web, Fancy it.
While the Fancy platform is user-friendly and straightforward, it has a few extra perks that help to up the engagement factor. Similar to Foursquare, you can earn colorful badges as you accomplish certain activities on Fancy. You can also unlock deals from participating stores by using Fancy. Since you’re on the go, you can enjoy Fancy from your iPhone, iPad or Android.
You have to admit that the popsicle icon is pretty darn cute. It may not be the “fancy” that we think of in fashion, but it’s the perfect representation of the sweet, minimalist goodness found within a simple platform like Fancy.
