Mobile Journeys: Are You WITH Me On This PATH?
In March, we brought you a story on PATH, a mobile photo sharing app that aimed to create a more private, personalized way to interact with friends and family and establish more emotional connections with the people you were connected to.
Now, the creators of PATH have launched WITH, a new mobile photo sharing app that connects with people you follow (and don’t follow) on Twitter.
This app makes us feel like we’re creating our own version Entourage…and here’s why:
We add the Twitter names of all the friends/people we’re hanging out with, we add our location (without checking into Foursquare), take a hot little photo, add a lens (photo filter) over it and tell our twitterverse how/whom we’re rolling with.
WITH Features:
- Share who you are with. Photo optional.
- Free and Premium Lenses for making your photos better.
- With is an interaction network. The friends you are with most often rise to the top of your profile.
- Friendship has its benefits. Closer friends receive special benefits…with more to come.
- Built entirely on top of Twitter with Twitter Single-Sign On.
- Available worldwide for iPhone and iPod Touch in the App Store.
Honestly, we don’t quite know if we’re WITH you on this one:
While the women of FMM are addicted to any mobile app that has social photo sharing capabilities, we’re not quite sure about this one.
- Only connects to Twitter. Most apps have multiple social networks available, WITH doesn’t. This could be genius or the Achilles heel of the app. It could be a niche it’s targeting or it could just be a flop. We’re on the fence.
- Loyalty rewards program. Okay, we see it a mile away; you hinted at in the features, we see the stars next to our activity – Cool. We want 25% at Hermes for going to South Coast Plaza with all our OC BFFs on a weekly basis. If you use the best loyalty rewards, we’ll adopt you faster than the latest fashion trend.
- UI needs work. It took a good 15 minutes to get it all set up, get our app purchases and get our locations settings correct to make full use of our iPhone capabilities. We did not like that we could not use our iPhone photo gallery without enabling the locations services on the app. We also found the navigation to post a bit jenky, this app needs some work to make it more user friendly.
