Kim Kardashian Dazzles In Business + Philanthropy
Kim Kardashian decided to make an enormous move with business partner Brian Lee by making a $40 million investment. However, this is not your average investment, so the two chose Andreessen Horowitz — who happens to be an investor in Facebook, Foursquare, Groupon, Skype and Twitter — as their guide. Kardashian wanted to use him specifically for her 2-year-old footwear and accessories e-commerce venture, ShoeDazzle. Lee is a strong believer that this move will help ShoeDazzle gain customer interest and international awareness.
“We are launching in the U.K. in the next couple of months,” he said, noting that the firm is also in discussions to expand into Asia by the end of the year and South America after that.
John O’Farrell, general partner recently stated that ShoeDazzle.com has more than 3 million subscribers. Horowitz believes that ShoeDazzle is going to be extremely successful due to the fact that the site receives regular customer traffic. After three different financing rounds, the site has attracted more than $60 million in venture capital financing.
With lots of funding behind her company, Kim Kardashian wants to show her philanthropic side with her participation in the Project trade show launch of Denim Unites for Peace.
Denim Unites for Peace is an online charitable fund-raising sale benefiting Falling Whistles. Some of the other denim brands participating are Joe’s Jeans, True Religion, Hudson, Citizens of Humanity, J Brand, Current/Elliott, Siwy, Acne, Nudie, Kasil, AG Adriano Goldschmied and Seven For All Mankind. On May 18th HauteLook, which was acquired by Nordstrom will host the 3 day sale. All denim pieces will retail for under $100 and all of the money will go to the war affected children and women of Congo.
