Alexa By New York Post: 210 Years In The Making

New York Post‘s Alexa, which launched in February, is not only an amazing trend guide, but also an example of successful print evolution.  The New York Post was founded in 1801 by one of our founding fathers, Alexander Hamilton.  That in itself is quite impressive, as we see some newspapers and magazines ceasing to exist due to being replaced by more modern, digital sources of information and inspiration.  But, New York Post hasn’t been in existence this long by chance.  Alexa is likely a hint at what Alexander Hamilton’s brainchild has done right all these years.

New York Post Alexa

With the debut of columns like Page Six (who doesn’t know about and indulge in that from time to time?) and now Alexa, New York Post shows that it’s not afraid of change and modernization.  What began in print is also now available on our computers and mobile devices.  While it’s pure speculation, it’s probably not too far-fetched to believe that New York Post may not have been this successful without the adventurous spirit it takes to evolve.

New York Post is a well-rounded publication, with a healthy fashion section, so Alexa fits right in.  With a posh, feminine name which is also a nod to New York Post founder Alexander Hamilton, Alexa provides a seamless and modern connection to the rest of New York Post.  The layout is modern, almost like a fashion collage or inspiration board, full of stories and photos to feed your fashionable appetite.  With categories like “on the runway” and “haute list,” Alexa caters to style enthusiasts who want the latest fashion information at their fingertips.  The site is easy to navigate, with suggested stories and photo galleries that are displayed in such a way as to pull you deeper within the site.

As we browse through the latest stories on Alexa, we can’t help but wonder if our other favorite publications will be able to evolve as well as New York Post.  We also wonder what Alexander Hamilton would think about his now digital endeavor.

Who doesn’t love a little fashion inspiration and a lesson in business evolution with their morning coffee and must-reads?
