Cardato’s Sustainable Fashion Contest

Submitted by on 05/05/2011 – 5:45 AMNo Comment | 771 views

Cardato is looking for new creative minds to send in designs using Cardato Regenerated C02 neutral wools.  In exchange, Cardato is giving away a trip to Tuscany.

Cardato is the world’s first certified ‘zero emissions’ textile product, which is made with recycled wool from the Prato District in Italy.  All of the textiles are selected according to fiber and color, then are reworked into new raw materials, which can then be used to make various products.  Cardato does as much as possible without dyeing, because they want to stay as eco-friendly as possible.

Why  is Cardato offering the winner a trip to Tuscany?  It is close to Prato, Italy where Cardato launched the new label for eco-friendly regenerated wool products.  The winner will be able to develop their fabulous design and prototype in Tuscany, plus get a shot at a grand prize of 2500 Euro.

Cardato’s international contest is looking for designers from the age of 18 to 30 in the fashion and design industries who are sensitive to environmental issues and interested in developing new sustainable products.  The dates for the first phase of the contest are April 30, 2011 to June 30, 2011, and there is no entrance fee.

Italy is one of the many countries that is striving to make changes in many areas to help the environment stay healthy and grow.  In using recycled wools, they want to set a good example for the textile industry and show people that it is possible to create beautiful masterpieces with recycled and sustainable fibers.

This contest is a good example of how companies are merging fashion and sustainability together to create eco fashion.  With more companies like Cardato, the world will be on it’s way to a healthy future.
