Traditional Home And Lonny Magazine Become One

Two of our favorite magazines are collaborating on a new venture. Traditional Home, launched in 1989 by founder and editor Karol DeWulf Nickell, “celebrates the pleasures of modern life through classic taste.”  This magazine has been a best seller on many newsstands for nine years.  The magazine features many things, from decorating and design to food and weekend getaways.  Lonny Magazine, a bi-monthly online home furnishing magazine, was launched in October 2009, and focuses on home décor and lifestyle. The two founders, Michelle Adams and Patrick Cline, want to show readers how to make the right design decisions in order to fulfill personal happiness, so it makes sense for the two magazines to merge.

Both magazines have company blogs, The Lonny Blog and Traditional Home’s Editor’s Blog, which give their readers a way to relate on a more personal level. Adams and Cline decided to launch Trad Home, an online only version of Traditional Home.  Trad Home will have two posts this year, which can easily be accessed by the Internet.  It contains design tips, interviews with great designers, and vast insight regarding home furnishing trends.  Many are saying it’s aimed at the “next generation of design lovers,” which will give the magazine a new group of young and hip readers.

In addition, Traditional Home is partnering with online shopping destination, One Kings Lane, to create a series of Trad Home Tastemaker Tag Sales.  Each of the designers will be in charge of a room for their own “Trad Home Tag Sale.” This will give readers and consumers inspiration for designing and a good place to buy anything to their liking.  Even though both magazines will keep publishing new editions on their own, this collaboration will only make them stronger as they appeal to a whole new audience.

P.S. We can’t wait to read it on our iPads!
