H&M Haste Makes Lanvin Luxury Waste
So, you know we’re not big fans of fast fashion at FashionablyMarketing.Me. We believe luxury brands dilute — and even taint — their image when they spread themselves thin enough to appeal to the masses.
Somehow, those Louboutins that symbolize a right of passage and personal success lose their luster when every other girl is wearing a pair. At the heart of luxury is the idea that an item is an indulgence — more of a want than a need.
So, when we can walk into our nearest H&M and pick up a $5 Lanvin for H&M tee on the sale rack, you’ll understand why our hearts sink just a little bit…
And, you’ll lend us your shoulder as we cry just a little bit when we see things like this — Waste — a collection of items created from the leftover scraps of the H&M and Lanvin collaboration.
No, we’re not evil. We think going green is great and being resourceful is admirable. But, we have to be honest and draw the line right here. This is not the Lanvin we know and love (probably because it’s designed by H&M design chief Ann-Sofie Johansson).
While trying really hard not to use the words “clown” and “circus,” we will say that the Waste collection speaks for itself, illustrating where fast fashion goes oh-so-wrong.

my friend and i are were talking about this exact subject yesterday..same example included :S
I think this is a magnificent idea. Though, I do agree the final outcome of a few pieces don't quite hit the mark, the actual concept is dead on. It engages the up and coming fashionista who shops at H&M with luxury brands such as Lanvin. So as they become more financially sound & environmentally aware; they will appreciate such innovative concepts of reusing & multi-market appeal that in turn will become loyal consumers to both brands for a lifetime.
