ILOVEBOXIE: Digital Storytelling & E-Commerce Brilliance

Have You Had Something Happen That Belongs On A T-Shirt?

Let’s face it, us West Coast guys and girls love living in t-shirts and denim, fashionably accessorized with oversized bags and flip-flops (insert your brands here). As New York knows catwalks and runways, Los Angeles knows the back route of Santee Alley and shortcuts to the best beaches. So imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon Boxie.

ILoveBoxie is an emerging independent t-shirt line coming out of the UK. Backed by some creative geniuses that I think I may have had a very sordid love affair with in another life; their t-shirt designs change ever 25 days and each shirt tells a piece of a story written by its creator. Have your own story to tell?  You can create you’re own.

The storyteller in me wants to tell you a story and wants that story to be shared with the world, but the marketer in me insists we move on. Boxie has a great concept.  While big brands are working diligently to tell their stories through customized micro communities (private websites and blogs with no sign other than  a legal mention that they are theirs), this little site becomes yet another simple, yet effective example of how designers, retailers and brands can express themselves in a simple way.

Oh, and it works magnificently on the iPad with its left to right scrolling motion — no custom mcommerce site or iPad app needed. We’re getting our Harry Potter on when we say “Bloody Brilliant.”

I quite like the concept, it's fun and certainly taps into the frustrated story teller in all of us! I was however, somewhat put off by the quality of the t-shirts, see-through t-shirt material can only mean one thing: It will be full of holes after 3 wash!
