crowdsourcing

By now, you know about Style Trek; we’ve been covering the site since it launched a few months ago. But for those of you who don’t, StyleTrek, a crowdsourced e-commerce boutique which showcases independent fashion designers, is opening its doors this month to welcome savvy shoppers from 91 countries.

The move to expand beyond the site’s US audience, it will offer consumer access to StyleTrek’s products, consisting of in-demand but hard-to-find fashions from developing designers around the world. StyleTrek’s current designers are located in over 15 countries across four continents including Argentina, Australia, Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States.

“We’re responding to the desires of the StyleTrek consumer – they are sophisticated, global and demanding.” said Cecilia Pagkalinawan, CEO. “We had requests to shop at StyleTrek from more than 120 countries. We are thrilled to expand and hope to continue offering StyleTrek to even more parts of the globe.”

Like ModCloth and AHAlife.com, StyleTrek’s content and creativity is fueled by crowdsourcing, with most tips coming from sophisticated fashion cognoscenti. The site’s popularity is growing beyond online fashion enthusiasts and cool hunters such as FMM; garnering rave reviews from New York Times to Wall Street Journal and our digital counterpart BOF.

“StyleTrek has surely tapped into an underdeveloped segment of the market, especially as many consumers are looking for things that can’t be found everywhere and want them at reasonable prices.” – New York Times

“Founder Cecilia Pagkalinawan seems to have struck a chord with industry insiders. Her direct ecommerce experience at Burberry and La Perla, and relationships in the fashion industry will server her well.” – Business of Fashion
