Kaffeslabberas: Handcrafted Clothing From Danish Seniors

Submitted by on 09/06/2010 – 6:00 AM2 Comments

KaffeslabberasLong for the days when your grandmother bestowed upon you handcrafted sweaters & mittens, the kind that could bring you warmth even in the very worst of cold weather?

It’s a dying craft, but Kaffeslabberas is here to prove otherwise.

Kaffeslabberas is a brand of clothing & accessories made by women at a Copenhagen senior activity center, with 100% of proceeds going back to the center.

These Danish volunteers are experts at what they do and make amazing, one of a kind designs that are cozy and are as “organic as possible.” That means clothing that makes you feel good, do good, and is completely unique.

The brand has its own Facebook fan page, showing off the amazing knits to people all across the world.

What with fast fashion at its seeming peak, Kaffeslabberas shows that there is an emerging niche for community driven and handcrafted clothing, and  Henrik Vibskov’s Copenhagen boutique now carries the Kaffeslabberas line.  As the Kaffeslabberas brand demonstrates, social good and ingenuity can go hand in hand with technology & fashion.
