Westfield Fashion Detector

Westfield London Fashion DetectorEver been browsing through Facebook and find the perfect dress on a friend’s photo?

You want the dress oh so badly, but there’s a caveat: You don’t really know the person wearing the dress, and you feel shy about asking where she got it.

It’s a common problem, and students at the Miami AD School have come up with an idea to solve it.

While it doesn’t exist yet, the Westfield Fashion Detector utilizes photo recognition and augmented reality so that you can find the perfect dress (or at least a suitable match) online or on the street.  That’s right, you can snap a person on the street for an on-the-go sartorial find!

Smartly, the tool (which could be used mobilely as an app) would not be overtly commercial.  The advertising students link the tool to the popular shopping center Westfield, but the main focus of the Fashion Detector wouldn’t be shopping at Westfield (although that’s obviously a perk) but on discovering all the great fashion that’s out there.
