Tickle Me Tuesday: Summer T-Shirt Style
Dear Katy Perry & Snoop:
California Girls everywhere would like to thank you for our summer theme song.
As California Girls, we love and live for the LEFT coast. Okay, we occasionally leave our hearts in San Francisco, but we always come back to the place the feeds our soul – the amazingly beautiful City of Los Angeles.
Inspired by our new theme song, we began to think, “what’s more California that graphic, oversized tees and flowing layers?”
Well, nothing frankly.
For our t-shirt picks, we only have one requirement: Give us quality without compromising that relaxed Cali vibe.
Enter…Fluxus.
I recently discovered Fluxus during a shopping excursion at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. Fluxus clothing is inspired by the mid-century art movement and Los Angeles inner-city culture. It aims to encourage the advancement of self-expression through fashion. Loving the avante garde design and brand messaging (hey I’m a marketer, that stuff sells), the Kimono Tunic tee has strategically crept it’s way into my wardrobe.
I love this piece, I wear it with layered long necklaces, legging, jeggings or skinny jeans. While it’s casual, with the right accessories (Philip Crangi Giles & Brother Leather Wrap Bracelet), it extremely sophisticated and almost futuristic. I’d give Yoko Ono a run for her money with the 60s inspired outfits I could create with Fluxus clothing.
Moving on…Have you ever wondered what you’d find me writing this very blog in? Well, I will tell you. I’m a fan of hair in a messy bun and lounging in my Diesel jeans. This look isn’t complete without one of my new favorite t-shirt companies, Head Vs. Heart. I don’t know about you, but my head is always in constant dialog with my heart, logic vs. emotion. I love the name if this brand as well as their vintage aesthetic and Cali vibe found in their simple assortment of shirts.
Every aspiring actress, blogger, or model moonlighting as a Hollywood waitress would do well to own the Camera T. I encourage them to rip out the neck, create slits and add safety pins or any element to give this more of a rocker edge. Darlings, do whatever you can to this simple shirt to make it a statement all your own.
After all, California girls are undeniable. Our style, our statements…the industry looks to the women of California because because we’re known for wearing our fashion and showing our style in such fierce ways.
