Kenneth Cole Facebook App Aids Gulf Oil Spill

Kenneth Cole has launched an online store on Facebook, in which users can customize their own t-shirts, with 100 percent of net profits going to AWEARNESS, The Kenneth Cole Foundation.

AWEARNESS will use the money to go towards the tragic and hugely destructive BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico through July 2010.

AWEARNESS is a non profit entity aiming to help the community, promote service and do good. The foundation has also worked with the Human Rights Campaign to shed light — and work against — the United States’s military and their “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.

Users can choose the color, size and “Kennethism” of their desire.  Kennethisms are short, snappy quotes about the oil spill, same sex marriage or well, just about anything.  Kennethisms include: “I clean up well.  Support the Gulf,”  ”Today is not a dress rehearsal,” “Underneath it all…You’re naked,” “Are you listening or just waiting to talk?” and “Those against same sex marriage aren’t thinking straight.”  Each shirt is $35.

I tried my hand at customizing my own, and I was a little disappointed that there weren’t more options other than choosing size, color, Kennethism and the options for how the text would look. Check out the Facebook application and try it out yourself. – S.Kwak
