Crowdsourcing Movies: YouTube’s Life In A Day

YouTube's Life In A DayYouTube, in partnership with LG, is coming out with a project called Life In A Day .  This experiment is an attempt to capture the lives of people from around the world, the best of which will be turned into a film showcasing at the Sundance Film Festival.

The project starts July 24, in which participants captures what happens in their day by camera — whether it’s something routine (a conversation, riding public transport) or something more unusual (a wedding, a championship win).

Afterwards, Oscar winning director Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland, Touching the Void, One Day in September) will choose the best footage and edit the footage into a documentary film.  The executive producer will be award winning director Ridley Scott.

The final product will be shown at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.  Those whose videos made the final cut will be listed as co-directors and may be invited to the Sundance premiere.

For those of you who love making films, or those of you want to become a part of something very big, might want to pick up your camera on July 24th (that’s this Saturday!) for a chance at being featured in innovative film that uses the power of crowdsourcing to generate footage material.
