Submitted by on 07/08/2010 – 7:39 PM7 Comments | 6,235 views

Stylesight, (the trending service we  wrote about a couple months ago), has recently launched their list of the best Plus Size (or Healthly Size) Bloggers. With recent controversy over model Crystal Renn’s weight brewing, and with the YFF (Young, Fat and Fabulous) Blogger Conference impending, the reports are timely and highlight the big names in both high fashion modeling and personal style blogging.

Stylesight's On The Plus Side

Stylesight picks: Stephanie Zwicky (Le Blog de Big Beauty), J (Fatshionable), Alegra (Dollface is Candysweet), Lilli Hingee (Frocks and Frou Frou), Jennifer (Jasifer Lions Club), Sakina (Saks In The City), Ragini Nag Rao (A Curious Fancy), Ulrika (The Red Rosette) and Gabi (Young, Fat, & Fabulous).

The nine international plus size bloggers that Stylesight features have a fantastic flair for fashion. The bloggers offer stylish insight as to how they maintain tasteful outfit creations in an industry that oftentimes puts plus size women to the sidelines, catering only to them as an afterthought or exploiting them for marketing campaigns/purposes. We give Stylesight extra props for  highlighting bloggers from all around the world — proving that plus sized fashion is important on a global scale.

Our Plus Size Blogger Picks

While we adored all the featured bloggers, we’ve decided to showcase our favorite three so that you can get a glimpse of what plus sized bloggers have in store:

Gabi, Young, Fat, and Fabulous, Chicago, Illinois:

Gabi: Young, Fat, and FabulousGabi started her blog “…because she was encouraged by the style compliments she was receiving from other people and she sought to fill the void in fashionable plus size blogging.” Gabi is definitely fulfilling that void in plus size blogging and is busy working for Vogue Curvy’s video blog with Sakina of Saks In The City and hosting the YFF (Young, Fat, and Fabulous) Conference from July 9 to July 11, 2010 in New York City.

Gabi has been picked as one of the 20 finalists for MTV’s TJ (Twitter Jockey) contest, working hard to make her dreams come true and move to New York City. With her beauty, excellent writing, intelligence and media savvy ways, we’re sure that Gabi has what it takes to send plus size fashion into the mainstream.

You can follow Gabi on Twitter @gabifresh and on Facebook.

Lilli Hingee: Frocks And Frou FrouLilli Hingee, Frocks and Frou Frou, Melbourne, Australia:

Lilli’s style is ultra feminine and consists of a lot of beautiful bows, skirts and dresses.  Lilli says she started her blog partially because ”the plus-size market in Australia is really, really dreadful.”

Lill’s blog is full of useful tips about stores that sell plus size clothing and comfortable clothing and accessories. She’s also refreshingly honest about her journeys in fashion, never putting herself on a pedestal, and makes for a delightful read.

You can follow Lilli on Twitter @frocksnfroufrou.

Ragini Nag Rao, A Curious Fancy, Kolkata, India:

Ragini Nag Rao: Forays In Fatshion

This literature student’s closet is full of whimsical items: Lace, frills, bloomers and Victorian style boots.  With her bob haircut with bold fringe and her penchant for anything lace, Ragini offers fanciful and intriguing style that is rarely shown in media concerning plus size fashion.

In talking to The Guardian, Ragini says that her self confidence has been “transformed” through her blog and that “Putting pictures of myself up on the internet is my small act of fat activism.”

You can follow Ragini on Twitter @curious_fancy.
