Fashionably Flying High With TopGuest

Submitted by on 06/30/2010 – 6:30 AMNo Comment

Topguest is a web-based location-based service aggregator that links to all geo-location services – Foursquare, Gowalla, Yelp, Loopt, Brightkite, Google Buzz and Google Latitude – in one place. Topguest’s service enables users to receive extra rewards for check-ins for people using geo-location services at Topguest partner venues. It also connects your loyalty program to the entire fast-growing universe of geo-location check-in apps to unlock increased loyalty, conversion, and incremental transactions.

You don’t have to download or install anything, all you have to do is sign up and validate your geo credentials for the services you use.

Topguest, Geo-Location Based Travel Rewards

The rewards you get at Topguest, and the places you have to check in in order to get your reward points, are mainly travel related, such as Delta Skymiles and Starwood Preferred Guest.  Topguest is in “Sneak Peek” mode and is currently working to get additional deals with luxury hotels and restaurants.  So far, you can get a week’s stay for free if you check into four Standard hotels in one week, and you can get a 25 percent discount if check into Standard properties at least ten times. Frequent flyer miles may be mostly a thing of the past, but it seems like digital technology and services are reinventing them and bringing them back alive.

What Topguest Could Mean For Retailers and Brands

We talked with Geoff Lewis, founder of Topguest, on what Topguest can do for brands and retailers in the near future.

The Topguest platform enables retailers and fashion/luxury brands to target exclusive offers to geolocation application users who have “checked in” to a Topguest-partner hotel, airport terminal, or even a new city. Offers can be deployed via email, SMS, or push notification to Topguest members. For example, Marc Jacobs could send a 25%-off discount to a traveler who has checked in at the nearby Standard Hotel New York.  In enabling fashion retailers to target offers to guests at luxury hotels, we enable them to directly reach a market pre-disposed to buying [on vacation or business travel, and staying nearby] with high discretionary income.
