Spotisquare: Soundtracks For Every Location

Spotify is a streaming music service that’s peer to peer, community oriented and allows for sharing.

Foursquare is the geolocation based social network that lets users share their locations with friends and family and get rewards for frequent visits to shops and restaurants.

Foursquare and Spotify = Spotisquare

Both are highly community based services that let users connect with each other digitally, letting them have fun listening to music and going to various places and events.

What better way, then, to connect with your friends than to combine these two services and integrate the music you listen to with the places you visit?  Spotisquare does just that.  This innovative mobile app, put together by Mobile Life Centre, lets users share their music playlists that they feel fit the atmosphere, mood and ambience of certain venues and settings.  It’s a way of adding that extra swing of style to a location.

Unfortunately, while Foursquare is available everywhere, Spotify only works in Sweden, Norway, Finland, the UK and France, Spain and the Netherlands.  That means that Spotisquare only works in Sweden, Norway, Finland, the UK and France. However, we hope that Spotify and Spotisquare swiftly come to other countries and to the US.

The relationships between fashion, music and location have always been strong ones — it can be seen with CocoRosie‘s relationship to Prada, fashion muses who played music for the Prada party at the Fall 2008 New York Fashion Week, and with the the DJs who proliferate at runway shows — and can make or break the way we experience events.

Could Spotisquare add that extra oomph to fashion related events, whether that be runway shows, store openings or shopping extravaganzas?
