Adelante Airstream

Following in the footsteps of Adelente Austin and  Cynthia RowleyAlice + Olivia is going mobile, launching a store on wheels.

The Vintage  Airstream (that even features a makeover station) starts it’s fashionable, social journey through the Southern states on June 10th, 2010.

“The roving fashion camper, which will tote stylists and a makeup artist, will be giving makeovers, providing styling advice, doing impromptu photo shoots and taking on special projects, including outfitting a new mom, a teen on her way to prom and a bride for her upcoming honeymoon.” the Los Angeles Times reports.

Brand founder and designer Stacey Bendet told the LA Times that the idea for the mobile home pop-up came to her when she was looking “for interesting ways to reach our customers.”

Bendet further discussed the inspiration for the tour with the New York Times, stating, “It’s much more real than online, it’s personal,” she said. “We’re trying to do something good while doing something for our business.” Bendet added that if all goes well this time out, the Airstream will be back on the road — in a different section of the U.S. — in no time.

While Bendet wasn’t the first designer to have a store on wheels, we hope she takes the experience further than her predecessors.

FMM Asks: Is there any chance of incorporating some unique location based marketing components into this tour as a retailer and brand have both done similar initiatives?

Since the offline connection seems to be so important, we believe the brilliance lies in adding a bit of Geo that would further cultivate consumer experiences and expand upon the first two attempts, truly making it a marketing first by a fashion brand.

For updates on the tour, you can follow them via Facebook page or visit alice + olivia‘s website.
