Recently, a website called BeautifulStranger.tv was brought to my attention by Yuli Ziv. I’m completely fell in love with it. Wanting to know more, I caught up with Beautiful Stranger’s Abby Wallach to find out about her, the website and their quest to find the beautiful blogger.

We are head over heels in love with Beautiful Stranger,  I love the concept of shopping street style in real time. Tell us about the inspiration behind the site…

Abby Wallach: Over ten years ago, my partner (Melissa Fedor) and I envisioned an Internet business that would merge magazine content (Melissa’s forte) and TV production (my background) to lead the consumer to shop with one simple click of the mouse. We felt the most riveting content was right there in front of us on the happening streets of New York City.

BeautifulStranger’s layout is unique. There are thousands of fashion blogs and sometimes a girl can get overwhelmed.  Your site is unique in the way the content and shopping functions are integrated.  How did you use site elements to create such an individual digital presence?

AW: We wanted to create an experience that was simple, easy to navigate, and felt different from everything else out there. Some visitors of our site prefer to sift through the photo archives, while others get hooked on watching one video after the next. So we organized our content in a way that is radically clear, enabling the user to quickly find what they are looking for. And all the content is embedded with cutting-edge shopping technology, which makes it all the more unique and shoppable.

Tell me about the beautiful stranger contest – There’s an amazing package tied to the winner.

AW: We are so excited about the Hey Fashion Blogger, Are You the Next Beautiful Stranger? contest. The very idea behind the contest is to create an opportunity for the fashion blogging community and the fashion industry to converge. We feel that Beautiful Stranger.tv offers that platform to both worlds.

The lucky winner, who will be selected based on her personal style story as well as her submitted snaps, will go behind-the-scenes at the Catherine Malandrino show, plus interview the fabulous designer and go shopping on a $1,000 in-store spree! She’ll stay at The Mark Hotel on Madison Avenue for two nights, dine at the delectable Jean Georges restaurant, and go to the renowned Fekkai hair salon for a new cut and color. There are loads of beauty products being given away, as well, from Fekkai and Dior, including skincare and makeup. A Rebecca Minkoff handbag and serpent cuff from Vivre will also be among the many great prizes awarded the winning Fashion Blogger. Plus a radio interview on A Fashionable Life Radio and Shooting street style with Abby and Melissa.

As a blogger, you know personal style is about more than just the outfit.

It’s about what you do, how you feel, and what you believe. So what’s the story behind your style?

If so, enter BeautifulStranger.tv‘s “Hey Fashion Blogger, Are You The Next Beautiful Stranger?” contest, and you might just win a free trip to the Fall 2010 New York Fashion Week. All you have to do is go to the contest page, answer some questions about yourself and your style, and send in a head to toe picture that best illustrates your style.

BeautifulStranger.tv will showcase the best fashion blogging finds from May 12 – June 15. The grand-prize winner will get the ultimate fashion prize: A whirlwind trip to New York Fashion Week.

If you need inspiration on the ultimate picture to submit to the contest, check out Jane Aldridge and her amazing style on her Sea of Shoes blog. This high schooler’s blog is the true pinnacle of fashion blog greatness.
