Delectable Inspiration: Macarons + Pierre Herme

Submitted by Stephanie Kwak on 04/22/2010 – 8:48 amComments

Long Lines for Free Macarons From Pierre HerméMacarons are delectable French treats, and they’re also the most fashionable confectionery around.  No wonder, then, that macarons can so easily get people in the spirit of giving.

The master of macarons, Pierre Hermé, gave away free macarons on March 20, 2010, calling the day Jour du Macaron (Macaron Day).

In doing so, Pierre Hermé and his amazing macarons were able to raise 7000 Euros (or $9300) for the Alliance Maladies Rare and Autours des Williams.

The lines were long, but employees were happy and upbeat, and tasters were able to try out all the delicious macarons — including unusual flavors like strawberry wasabi. 2010 also marked the first year that New York City was also able to experience a slice of Parisian life with Free Macaron Day.
