For LAFW, we were invited to participate in Simply Stylist. Co-created by Sarah Pollack of Caro Marketing, Simply Stylist is private event that caters to celebrity stylists, actors and media; bringing them together for a private, by-appointment-only “Haute” tradeshow/fashion event.

The designers showcased their lines at Simply Stylist ranged from upscale, contemporary accessories to vintage inspired footwear; diffusion lines to full couture apparel collections.

Celebrities and their stylists can speak with collection designers or their representatives for as long as they like, arranging editorial shoots for a certain pieces, placing personal orders or arranging for a garment to be used in one of their upcoming projects. Event attendees were provided with personal assistants to carry their bags so they could move freely though the event.

The Simply Stylist Venue

The venue, conveniently located off Sunset Blvd, was incredibly pleasant. From the moment we walked in, we loved the atmosphere. Our assistant handled our bags so that we were able to photograph and conduct video interviews with the designers.

The event lighting was exceptional, allowing our photographer to use little extra equipment. The layout of the booths, installations and seating areas was impeccably placed.

The Designers Showcase

Impressive Simply Stylist designers:

  • Paul & Joe: Paul & Joe is a Paris-based label by Sophie Albou. The fall collection touts a Parisian Chic aesthetic mixed with American Western influences. The label’s diffusion line held a Gypsy style meets Woodstock belts that was heavily embellished with Native American designs. We love this statement belt and hope to see it as an editorial piece for fall.
  • Hobo International: Most women know Hobo Handbags and accessories. The fall preview line featured a streamlined, structured clutch called the Simone; we predict that it will sell out in Nordstrom when it hits the floor.
  • Tulola Jewelry: The Tulola Collection made it’s US debut at Simply Stylist. Designed by Indian designer, Sri, the collection pieces have heavy Southeast Asian influences; all the pieces are handmade. We were particularly impressed by oversized agate and sterling silver bangle bracelets.
  • Bordeaux - Bordeaux continues to live up to it’s reputation for having a “fascination with color” in it’s fall line. We loved the rich purple, aubergine and moss green shirts and dresses. Uncompromising quality fabric and fit makes the S-Tank our favorite basic for layering, did we mention it was only $50.00?
  • Heather – Ardy Raminfar (creator of Bordeaux), launched Heather in Spring 2010.  Heather is a collection based on everyday luxury. Luxury tees, mixed fabrics and leather embellishments bring luxury to women under the age of 35 at reasonable price points. We loved the retro bra and high-waisted bloomers.

Beyond Beautiful Designers

After our interviews and examinations of fall collections; we enjoyed complementary Spa services from the W Hotel Hollywood’s Bliss Spa, received expert hair cuts and styling from Hairroin Salon in Hollywood and hors d’oeuvres from Made By Meg. We were able to take a break, peruse The Contact List, the fashion PR and stylist database, and check email before heading to the last of our fashion week events.

The Simply Stylist event was has been the high point of LA Fashion Week, Caro Marketing definitely knows how to produce a professional event. We were honored to have participated; we can’t wait for the next one.
