New York: Jewelry CEO Summit March 2010
The Jeweler’s Resource Bureau will hold the Designer CEO Summit on March 14, 2010 at the Katie Murphy Amphitheatre, located in New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology.
This summit will include talks and classes from jewelry CEOs and is a an opportunity for jewelry designers at all business levels to boost their skills in business, as well as interact with other jewelry designers and CEOs.
The summit will center on four speakers and four different topics. Andrea Hill, former CEO of industry supplier Rio Grande and owner of HMC Group, will give a talk called “Ready for Anything: Plan Like a CEO and Get Ready for Growth”. Meeling Wong, who’s worked with David Yurman, John Hardy, Diamond in the Rough, Padma Lakshmi and Coomi, will talk about branding. Lisa Jenks, who started in jewelry and then expanded into flatware, barware, and more, will hold a conversation called “Behind the Designer’s Studio: An intimate conversation with Lisa Jenks”.
Lastly, Kate Peterson, a retail strategist, will give a talk called “Get Into the Mind of Your Customer: How Retailers Think, Buy, and Sell Your Work and How You Can Influence It All“.
Additionally, there will a presentation at lunch called “75 Ideas in 75 Minutes” led by a panel of business experts, including Stacy Kaplan of Truth be Told, Inc., Michael Schreier of RueLaLa.com, Gary Schroder of Visual Exhibitionism, Marlene Richey, and Katie Hellmuth Martin of Collective-E.
There will also be pre-summit and post-summit workshops. Two workshops will be held on March 13, 2010 on do-it-yourself public relations and sales planning and trunk shoes.
The post-summit on March 15, 2010, will guide attendees through media training and will be led by Amanda Gizzi & Helena Krodel (Twitter: @JICchicks) of the Jewelry Information Center. Designers will also have the opportunity to showcase their jewelry to trade and consumer editors.
