Yuli Ziv and I were fortunate to participate in the first ever 140 Characters Conference in New York where we spoke on Twitter’s disruptive effects on retailers. Now Jeff Pulver, with amazing sponsorship from Kodak, will be bringing the The 140 Characters Conference to Los Angeles on October 27 and 28, 2009.

Twitter’s Effects on Retailers

This time, I’ll be moderating a panel that features Crosby Noricks (Social Media Strategist for Red Door on Charlotte Russe & PR Couture), Nicole Aimee Schreiber (Project Manager at Red Interactive & Land’s End) and Maria Ogneva (Director of Client Services at FashionablyMarketing.Me) discussing how retailers are building social communities through Twitter.

What Is The 140Conf?

The #140Conf looks at twitter as a platform and as a language we speak; over time, it will neither be the only platform nor the only language.  #140conf is not an event about  microblogging or a place where people share twitter tips and techniques; rather, it’s a fast-paced conversation where the participants explore the effects of the real-time Internet on  their business(es) and industries. The original scope of #140Conf was to explore the effects of twitter on celebrity, the media, advertising and politics; over time, the scope expanded to look at the effects of twitter on topics ranging from public safety to public diplomacy.

Calling All Characters In LA

The schedule for this two day event is unique and fast paced. It is the conference’s intention to provide a platform for as many people as possible to share their thoughts and engage in conversation with the attending delegates. Participants will find individual talks set to 10 minutes; “featured talks” set to 15 minutes and the group panel discussions set for 15 and 20 minutes.

The take aways from this event will provide the attending delegates knowledge, perspectives and insights to the next wave of effects twitter and the real-time internet will have on business. The #140conf event schedule is under development and Pulver has issued a call for characters in LA. Would you like to participate in the next conference? Visit the #140Conf:LA site for complete information.

Given the location of #140conf:LA, this event will have a special focus on the use of Twitter in Hollywood. To get a feel of what you can expect at #140conf LA, please review the recorded videos from our NYC event
